03:31 pm - Politically motivated Hi! I just checked Natalie's site and she had this intriguing political quiz that looked like fun, so I took it and am posting it:

10:33 am Here I am just hanging out in the afternoon reading the on-line journals from Natalie's "Friends" list. I play a game of trying to figure out who the people posting actually are. I keep getting them mixed up. I guess if I keep up with it, I will learn which on-line name goes with which person.
I have just read a fabulous book by Ann Pratchett...Truth and Beauty. It is a memoir of her deep friendship with Lucy Grealey, writer of Autobiography of a Face. The intimacy, love, of "best friends" shared by the two women is so passionate that it makes other relationships look common. It was especially meaningful to me because these two women chose, on graduation from college, to go to the Iowa Writers Workshop rather than to get married. They both remained single during Lucy's life at least. Because of this, they were able to live anywhere they wanted to live, to accept teaching positions, lectures, teaching workshops, and temporary fellowships all over the U.S. building a cadre of companions that are artists, writers, and painters. They became perpetual students, in a way. It is interesting that as they have the same problems I have had, maybe everyone has, in wondering, "Am I good enough? Am I talented? Do I really have to write today...a page a day, three pages a day? Am I going to make it as a writer?" They wondered..."what have I missed by not having a husband/family..." Eventually Ann did have a more permanent relationship, but had not married at the end of the book. She had bought a house near her par amour, but both had careers and traveled together, but did not live together. Interesting.
And I have figured out that I have no idea how to edit and make regular changes on LiveJournal. How do you underline or make italics? All of N.'s entries have a lot on interesting cute icons, colors, kitty happy faces, etc. Where does that stuff come from. I guess I'll have to get someone to give me lessons.
Well, I have to go to work. More later. Current Mood: calm Current Music: Jazz

12:35 pm - RE: Squirrels in the Snow Hi! I just finished reading Cassie's livejournal, so I thought I'd post.
As I sit here on the computer, I am feeling a bit sad. I hear melted snow running down the gutter pipe and the day is a winter grey instead of the spring blues and bright greens as it should be in March. I guess I have to go further south for that. There are two squirrels at the feeder. One is the one who looks like he has been injured because he has large patches of fur missing. He looked pretty sad at the beginning of the winter, but with my sunflower seeds in the feeder, he has improved quite a bit. He's looking pretty good now, and is even growing some hair back. That makes me feel better. I have made a difference in this squirrel's life.
I just talked to Mom on the phone, and she is sick with shingles. I gave her quite a bit of unsolicited advice, as I am wont to do. Natalie is on her way here to borrow my computer because hers is not working right now. I wonder if she needs one that is not portable, along with a place to put it. Natalie just came home, so I will probably give this up to her now. TTFN Love, Carol Current Mood: anxious

10:23 pm - Nerdiness
Hi! I just saw N.'s journal and found this cool quiz, and just had to take it. Apparently I'm just average. I think it's because I've been out of college too long. When I was in college I was a peace protester and generally a hippy, although we called ourselves "freaks," as I remember. Natalie says that it is really cliche nerdiness rather than true geeky nerdiness. So, here it it....go for it! Current Mood: relaxed
